9. "Uptown Funk," Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars (2014)

"Uptown Funk" is just plain fun, a throwback to the funk sound of the 70s and 80s. It might not be the most innovative track of the decade and you probably got tired of the incessant airplay it received, but that doesn't change the fact that it is an absolute blast. Th5e9+ 8/9*5+ - (That last sentence was typed by my 11-month old grandson Gus who took a swipe at the keyboard).

Anyway, listening to "Uptown Funk" reminds me of Kool and the Gang, Earth, Wind, & Fire, and Morris Day & The Time. It's energetic and brassy and would've fit in perfectly at one of our high school dances. There was a time when it was released that I thought I would tire of it, but I never have. I included it on my Workout Avoidance playlist and when it plays at a wedding reception I let uptown funk me up.

I'm including two videos for this one. The first is the one filmed for the record and the other is one of those mashups of old movie musicals. A song like "Uptown Funk" belongs in a stage show where it could be a showstopping dance number.
